The phrase “cellular respiration” can make even the most experienced Biology teacher shudder. When it comes to teaching this all-important topic, there is one question that every Biology teacher asks themselves – “how can I make aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration enjoyable, while still making sure that students understand these tricky processes?”
In short, animations, labs, games/quizzes, hands-on activities – respiration is best delivered in a highly visual and kinaesthetic way. Though a Cellular Respiration Worksheet wouldn’t be the most mind blowing thing you could have them do, I do feel this is something they need to see in multiple forms because it is important. We have attached an Aerobic Respiration Worksheet, an Anaerobic Respiration Worksheet, along with all of the guided notes, bell work, exit quiz, and power point for this lesson.
The Fun Stuff:
With that in mind here is a Cellular Respiration Lab that will make this lesson more fun for your students!
The whole purpose of cellular respiration is to extract the energy from food. So getting students to do a lab doing this is time well spent!

Aerobic Respiration:
When it comes to learning about the processes of Aerobic Respiration the following animation by Fuse School provides an excellent overview of the entire process.
Combine this with write-on summaries, sequencing tasks, diagrams which students have to annotate (or color) and you have a winning combination.
Anaerobic Respiration:
For Anaerobic Respiration – yeast in a sugar solution, inflating a balloon, always makes for an impressive practical lab activity, as you can dish out a prize for the best balloon.

Short quizzes such as the one below can be a useful little tool to assign as a summary task.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
